Secret Stuff's new song "2828" is a very special collaboration with our friends in Square Peg Round Hole. It's a story about loss and how the power of music can help us rebuild and move forward. Listen now at The Alternative and look for the single tomorrow at digital outlets everywhere.
Stuff's Michael Pfohl says, "I wrote 2828 directly after losing
something very important to me, the house venue I spent over 3 years of
my life growing. After we got the news, I had to pack everything that I
owned into a storage locker and leave the very next day for a tour. With
all of those emotions swirling around in my head, this song was the
only positive thing I could make out of the situation."
Chapman of Square Peg Round Hole adds, "We were honored when we got
asked to collaborate on a new Secret Stuff single. Since we are an
instrumental band, and since the song Michael had written was already so
strong, it was a fun challenge for us to assume new roles as purely
accompaniment. All of our parts were created to compliment existing
vocal lines, chord progressions, and rhythms. To match with Michael’s
primarily acoustic sounds, we opted for the more organic side of our
sound palette, using brushes on the drums and an upright bass bow on the
vibraphone. This was a blast to work on and we are thrilled for it to
finally get released!"

Wolverhampton, UK rockers Dearist are debuting the music video for their latest single "Fool's Heart" at New Noise Magazine. The song comes off their upcoming sophomore full-length Sonder which will be released on April 27th. Pre-order the album on limited edition vinyl to receive an instant download of the new songs “Drowning” and "Fool's Heart" as well as the band's newly remastered debut album This House Has No Windows.
Front man Adam Binder says:
“At the time of coming to write lyrics for the song, a
family member of mine was pretty ill and it was on my mind a lot, so the
lyrics came out about that. The words “My fool’s heart’s fading” is
about losing that innocence - that thought that nothing bad can happen
to you and your loved one and realizing it can happen at any moment."
Austin math rock masters, Honey and Salt, are gearing up to release their self-titled full length this Friday! We've teamed up with Substream Magazine to share a preview of the album with their explosive and melodic new single, "Oyster." Substream called the track a "math-rock anthem" that "...exemplifies all that Honey and Salt can be with their new album."
"Oyster" is one of the most dynamic cuts from Honey and Salt. The track ebbs and flows through intricate Kinsella-esque guitar work, atmospheric interludes, and an absolutely tremendous chorus that highlights the band's ability inject huge hooks into technical music. Lyrically the song deals with the central philosophical themes of the album as vocalist/guitarist, Wade Allen, wrestles with the pull of nihilism in the face of insurmountable global issues versus the innate desire to care deeply for the world around him.
The band has also announced a run of U.S. tour dates, which start this week with their record release show in Austin. Check out the band on tour all throughout April!

Austin, TX’s Honey and Salt are set to
release their self titled album on April 6th and we're stoking appetites
with a live in-studio recording of "A Nihilist Takes Up Knitting." Watch it now at Fecking Bahamas. A
blend of math textures, punk aesthetic, and pop-inspired design, the new
single has hooks to spare.
Filmed on the campus of UT Austin, the video captures the band's
signature live sound – a stylistic choice that remains an important
motif, even in their studio recordings. At once complex and undeniably
danceable, "A Nihilist Takes Up Knitting" captures the essence of Honey
and Salt; bursts of emotive lyricism, tightly wound passages, and catchy
crescendos glowing. Pre-order the band's self-titled album on limited edition vinyl now to get an instant download of two songs!
